The KISSes are here!

Yes, it took a while longer than the CinDWood looms (I ordered my KISS looms on Feb 10th, and received them on Feb 25th), but the delay is largely due to the KISS sale that was running for Valentine’s day.

Let’s take a look at the looms:

Fine Gauge 1 / FG1:

Of course, I “needed” another sock loom, but I specifically wanted to try one with the trademark KISS pins and pegs system. Instead of choosing the FG0 EFG, which is a standard peg-only loom, I went with the next step up: the FG1, which is the smallest gauge pins-and-pegs loom that KISS makes.

KISS_FG1_2Because the 7 peg end pairs came so highly recommended (after all, it’s hard to see what’s going on when you have only a teeny tiny gap in your loom), I also ordered myself a pair of those. This loom (along with the end pairs) will be my first foray into KISS sock looms — and no, I didn’t order two. Because I wasn’t sure I was going to like it, I wanted to make sure and try this loom on its own first — which means: no two at a time socks this time around! 🙁

I’m hoping I don’t get second sock syndrome working this loom, but if I end up absolutely loving it I’ll have to order another set so I can do two socks at the same time and not end up with a solo sock.

Small Gauge / SG:
KISS_SG_1I went all our with the small gauge set, because not only is this a pins-and-pegs set, but it’s also gauge adjustable – another KISS looms perk. That means that, by adding or removing washers from the frame of the loom, I can adjust the effective peg spacing from 3/8″ to 3/4″. This can make my knitting larger or smaller using the same loom.

I heard the best loom to get started in small gauge was the 60-peg 2-way adjustable, but because it’s so cramped with a 1-peg slider, I added on both 7-peg and 31-peg ends.

And because it’s gauge-adjustable, I think I might be confident enough to try knitting apparel on this loom, which can be very finicky about gauge… so I also ordered the 77 peg side pairs which can be mixed and matched with my other end pairs to make a very large loom.
