Valentine’s Day Loom Splurge

I’m treating myself to looms for Valentine’s day. Yes, myself. I am my own admirer. 😉

Because I love to knit socks, I went with the FG1 76 peg loom and 7-peg end pairs. I almost went with the EFG0, but it’s so similar to my KB EFG that I didn’t think that it was worth the investment (yet).

And for the more important KISS investment, I really wanted to try their adjustable-gauge looms. I almost never use a yarn thicker than worsted weight, so I went with their small gauge option. I am really excited to try this one out – and I have this lofty goal of knitting a sweater on a loom. I went with the 60-peg adjustable, but also got the 77 peg side pairs, 31 peg end pairs, and 7 peg end pairs for flexibility.

And, of course, I can’t forget my lovely CinDWood looms. I skipped preordering their Small Adult Hat Loom + glove loom combo, partially because they were only offered in blue pegs and partially because I like getting sock and glove looms in pairs. Pairs lets me avoid the dreaded “second sock/glove syndrome” after you finish one sock/glove and can’t bring yourself to take enough time to finish the second. It’s all psychological, of course.

I had a hard time justifying some of the 3/8″ gauge looms, as I already own a 3/8″ AKB All-n-One loom, but I loved the CinDWood adult hat looms and sock looms so much that I decided it was worth the investment. I pre-ordered the Child Hat, Baby Hat, and Toddler Sock looms (the sock loom in pairs, of course) in both 3/8″ and 1/4″ peg spacing. And I ordered the Adult Small Hat loom and the Adult Small/Youth Glove & Sock loom in both 3/8″ and 1/4″ peg spacing.

To top it off, I just had to have a loom that could make seamless blankets. There didn’t exist a S-Loom that worked for a king size bed, but the closest you can possibly get is the 60-inch 1/2″ gauge Universal S-Loom. For now, I’ll start with a throw blanket and see what my gauge ends up being before tackling something as large as a King Size blanket – which will likely have to be at least two pieces sewn together.

I am all shopped out, but I’m so excited to not only have brand new KISS looms headed my way, but new CinDWood looms coming both this month and next month after their preorders are released.

Now to spend some time knitting and rebuilding my bank account. 😀
